Death of Mrs. Henry Schrage Makes End of Useful Life.

WHITING, IND., Nov. 8. – Mrs. Henry Schrage, Sr., wife of Henry Schrage of the Bank of Whiting, passed quietly away at her home, 507 Schrage avenue, at 11 o’clock on Tuesday night.

Mrs. Schrage, who was 75 years of age, has been ill since March with a complication of diseases. In June she was feeling much better and was up and around but had the misfortune while yet in a weakened condition to fall down stairs from which she sustained a broken hip. Since this accident the patient has never been able to leave her bed as the bones never knit, and a trained nurse has been in constant attendance.

Mrs. Schrage was one of the pioneers of Whiting, coming here in 1847 and having been united in marriage in June, 1848. She has been a very retired woman, spending all her days in her home in the interest of her husband and family, by whom she will indeed be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Henry Schrage Sr., William C. Schrage, Herman Schrage and Mayor Walter E. Schrage, and her two daughters, Mrs. August Dreesen and Mrs. B. S. Place.

No definite arrangements have as yet been made for the funeral but it is thought that it will be on Friday.
